  • Day 1

Start your culinary adventure by gathering ingredients at a local market. Familiarise with local fruits and vegetables and herbs and spices that might be unfamiliar to you before you proceed to the docks to catch a ferry bound for the island of Hulhumalé. Disembark the ferry and get on a bus for the ride out to the home of the family who's hosting you for lunch.

Slip off your shoes and head inside, following your guide's lead as you learn the traditional greeting used by locals when entering a home. Get your ingredients you brought from the market, roll up your sleeves and lend a hand with the food preparation. Once the meal is ready, gather around the table to share your meal with your hosts. You will have the opportunity to speak about Maldivian cuisine, discuss local life and pick up some language tips which can be useful. At the end of this unique experience, your guide will walk with you to the ferry terminal and accompanies you back to Malé.
